On Tuesday, December 10, 2024, BPS Statistics of Nagekeo Regency received a visit from students of SMAK Baleriwu-Danga as part of the School Goes to BPS program. This visit was attended by 15 enthusiastic male and female students, accompanied by their accompanying teacher, Mr. Benediktus Budi.
The activity began in the BPS Nagekeo Regency Meeting Room, where the group was received directly by Mrs. Angela Regina Maria Wea, SST, M.Si, as the Head of BPS Nagekeo Regency. In her remarks, Mrs. Angela expressed her appreciation for this visit and emphasized the importance of understanding statistics as a basis for data-based decision making.
Furthermore, an explanation regarding BPS and Statistics was delivered by Mr. Balyan Wanda @balyanwanda The material presented included an introduction to BPS in general, as well as how statistics can be applied in everyday life. This session was interactive, with many questions from students showing their enthusiasm for learning.
After the explanation session, the group was invited to visit various rooms at the Nagekeo Regency BPS Office. The students had the opportunity to meet each employee and hear a direct explanation of the specific tasks carried out in each section, such as data processing, statistical services, and survey planning. This provides a real picture of how statistics are produced and utilized.
The activity ended with a sharing session in the meeting room, where Mr. Balyan Wanda shared his experiences about education at the Statistics Polytechnic-STIS, including career opportunities in statistics. The discussion was lively, with various questions about further studies and opportunities to become part of BPS in the future.
This visit not only provided new insights to SMAK Baleriwu-Danga students about statistics, but also inspired them to see the importance of data in supporting development. It is hoped that activities like this can continue to improve statistical literacy among the younger generation.
