The National Socio-Economic Survey (Susenas) for
March 2025 has officially begun. Before proceeding to the main stage of data
collection from sample households, one crucial preliminary step is household
updating. This stage plays a vital role in ensuring that the data used as the
basis for sample selection is accurate and up to date.
The household
updating process for Susenas March 2025 is scheduled to take place over six
days, from February 1 to February 6, 2025. The primary objective of this
activity is to obtain an updated picture of the number of households in each
census block. Through this updating process, the data used in the survey
becomes more reliable and accurately reflects current field conditions.
The updating process
is carried out through a door-to-door approach. Census officers will visit each
household in designated census blocks to verify and confirm their
existence—whether they are still present or no longer found. In addition to
checking household presence, officers will also collect other essential
information, such as the name of the household head, the number of food
consumption units within the household, and the educational background of the
household head. The collected data will serve as a reference for determining
which households will be included in the main survey sample.
To ensure the
quality and accuracy of the household updating process, field supervisors will
accompany enumerators at the beginning of the activity. This supervision aims
to provide guidance to field officers on how to conduct interviews correctly
and fill out the updating forms accurately. With this oversight, potential
errors in data recording and interactions with respondents can be minimized.
Household updating is a crucial initial step in the
implementation of Susenas. Therefore, collaboration and precision from all
field officers are essential to ensure a smooth process that is completed on
schedule. With accurate and reliable data, the results of Susenas March 2025
are expected to provide a more comprehensive picture of the socio-economic
conditions of the population and serve as a foundation for better development
policy-making.
